or below?
I'm not sure where the picture will end up.
Regardless, that's what 21 dollars got me at my local food shop. a rotisserie chicken for $8.88. A loaf of bread, some eggs, discounted lettuce and broccoli.
Don't look like much does it.
and it's not.
it's a lot less then what I'm used to consuming in a week.
I always start my mornings with coffee. I didn't budget nor show the coffee due to the fact that if I had to remove that (even for a week) someone would need to bail me out of jail. plain and simple. no coffee, no functiony.
so I keep the coffee, and this goes well. if I had to I would sell off half my wardrobe to feed my coffee desires.
just don't go there..k?
Anyhoo, after a cup of good ol' go juice, I then start my normal human day with a smoothy.
with soy milk, kale, spinach, a banana and if I'm feeling fancy I'll toss in blueberries or strawberries. don't forget my scoop of shakeology. (shameless beachbody promoting) and I slam that sucker back as if I has to be somewhere important in 5 min. (I don't have anywhere to be, really.)
then I go about my morning..
that right there, is nearing the $21 mark. factor in the milk, shako, berries, and leafy greens. I'm burning through the grocery funds like a wild fire in a drought.
so, on this eve of the challenge. I mentally prep for the lack of my beloved shake. for I'm replacing it with.. eggs. and maybe toast. I've planned my menu out. and prepped my dinners. I'll post pics when I can.
I'm ready.
I think.
I'm doing this challenge to raise awareness on poverty.
for single parents on limited incomes.
for governments to take a look at how the cost to live goes up, yet rates stay the same.
I've been in this boat before, but not as a challenge goer. as a situation liver.
more will be explained as time goes on.
so, follow me into the fridge and let's see what I can come up with with my bread, eggs, chicken, Salad and broccoli.
day one starts tomorrow!
