I would start the tell all on how my day 2 went with a break down of what I had.
but we already know what I had today
I had less food then normal, the daily recommend calorie intake wasn't met.
I don't feel correct in my humanly functions.
I've upped my water intake to try to fill the void. alas, other then more frequent potty breaks, I don't think it's been helping much.
it's only day 2 and even though I'm beyond greatful for the food I do have, I can't help but miss the things that have become a staple on my normal routein. for example, smoothies. one does not know how a daily "ritual" if you must, can have such an impact on your daily functions. maybe I'm getting whiney kuz I'm peckish, or tired, or a combo.
in short, one can live on $21. but it sucks. so far, I've had to dig out supplement sandwich fillers (tomatoes from my dad) to fill my veggie section of my 4 food groups. could my choices for grocerys for the week been better? probably. sitting back now and looking at my choices they will keep me alive, but Damnit, I really want a banana. and that wasn't in my budget.
at this point I'm searching for more to say, but haven't a clue. the amount given to someone to survive while on welfare is low. you meet your basic basic needs. then what? food banks? asking others to buy you some freakin veggies kuz you truly don't have the cash? we have a limited growing season in the north, so just plopping in a garden can be difficult. take into account, lots of places don't have any spaces for a garden. you can container garden, try to supplement the lack of fruits and veggies that way.
alot of people don't have the time and energy to get creative when it comes to food. they buy the easies, fastest and cheapest. years ago I had to accept assistance for myself and 2 kids. there was alot of yellow label items In the pantry. no treats. no eating out. trying to use every last piece of something. it sucked. it got us by tho.
my point in all this is something needs to change. housing rates go up, the cost of food goes up, utilities go up. why not the grocery budget?
mps salaries go up...
do I need to keep going?
